“Mahogany” is a stunning variety of Ranunculus that features double flowers that are a deep purple. The showy blooms are borne on sturdy stems from late spring above the lacy foliage. This perennial typically grows to 35 cm tall and 20 cm wide, performing best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of short periods of dry, frost, cool climates, and will die back during these times to regrow when conditions start to warm. “Mahogany” is commonly included in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, used in border plantings, or maintained in a container. A mass planting looks amazing and in this instance space bulbs 15 cm apart and plant 5 cm deep. For optimum results we recommend putting the bulbs in the fridge at 4oC for four weeks before planting and then let them soak in water for an hour before planting.
