Commonly known as the Chinese Lantern Lily, this is a bulbous plant grown for its amazing flowers. Delicate and bell-shaped, orange-yellow flowers are borne during late spring and summer. They are held off upright stems that also host mid-green leaves. It typically grows to 65 cm tall and 25 cm wide, and dies back during winter to regrow again in spring. This variety performs best when positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of short periods of dry, cool climates, and moderate frost. Chinese Lantern Lilys are commonly included in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas such as pools, included in border and mixed plantings, or maintained in a container. A mass planting is a must with this plant and results in an outstanding display.
