“Ray of Light” is an excellent selection of the commonly known, Fox Tail Agave. This evergreen perennial features rosettes of brad, pale green leaves with a cream edge. The leaves emerge from the centre of the plant with an almost rolled appearance. Mature plants produce a flowering stalk that may rise 3 m above the plant during summer carrying pale green-yellow flowers. This stalk arches towards the ground before arching up again and resembles fox tail. This succulent typically grows to 1.2 m tall and the same wide. Agaves grow best in full sun with a well-drained soil considered essential and a very tolerant of dry conditions. This species is commonly used as an attractive feature in modern gardens, particularly when planted in clusters or used to contrast with other colours and forms. It is also ideal for mixed plantings, rock gardens, or including in Mediterranean garden themes.
