Aloe plicatilis Details

Aloe plicatilis, commonly known as the Fan Aloe, is a small, multi-branched tree that carries succulent, blue-grey leaves with an inward curve. They are held off solid and fleshy stems and are complemented with showy, red flowers in winter. It is somewhat slow growing and eventually reaches 2.5 m tall and the same wide. It performs best when positioned on a well-drained site in full sun, and will tolerate extended dry periods once established, but does not do well on wet soils. Aloe plicatilis is ideal for the drier areas of the garden, including in rock gardens, or maintaining in a container. Its unusual growth habit provides for a great talking point.
