It bears masses of showy, yellow flowers through spring and summer. These are held just above the succulent-like, green foliage. It typically grows to 10 cm tall and 60 cm wide, but will colonise a larger area with time. This plant prefers to grow in full sun on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of coastal conditions, moving sand, extended dry periods, wind, and moderate frost. “Mellow Yellow” is commonly used in coastal and rock gardens, included in borders, planted to spill out onto a path or over a retaining wall, maintained in a container, or used around outdoor living areas such as pools. This hardy plant also makes for a fantastic potted plant in an office or the like.
