Citrus medica sarcodactylis, commonly known as Buddahs Hand, is a variety of citrus grown for its very unusual fruit which ripen in winter. The bright yellow fruit are shaped like a hand and comprise solely of rind. They have no flesh or seeds but do have a lemon aroma. It grows densely with glossy, dark green leaves to about 3 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Buddahs Hand is commonly grown as an interesting shrub with the fruit used to decorate bowls and platters, or sliced for drinks. It can also be maintained in a large container.
