Nagami is a variety of Kumquat that produces masses of olive shaped, bright orange fruit in autumn. The edible fruit are juicy but have a somewhat sour taste. They arise from fragrant, white flowers in summer which are borne amidst the glossy, dark green foliage. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, protected from heavy frost, though it will tolerate moderate frost once established. Nagami is commonly included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, added to a courtyard garden, planted around outdoor living areas, or grown as a specimen.
