Left untrimmed it will easily grow to 10 m tall but is easily contained with trimming and can be cut back severely each winter without doing the plant any harm. This clematis prefers to grow in a full sun or partial shade position that is semi-sheltered and well-drained. It tolerates frost, dry periods, cool climates, and a wide range of soil types, barring extreme wet or dry.
