“Rubens” is a deciduous climber that carries single, light pink flowers from spring through summer. As the early flowers begin to fall, bronze coloured foliage emerges which gradually changes to green. It will easily grow to 10 m but can be contained with trimming as necessary. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and can be grown in coastal environments. “Rubens” is often grown on fences or over arches, included in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas. It is also great for covering a large area when used as a groundcover.
