Hedera helix Pin Oak Details

Hedera helix Pin Oak is a variety of Ivy grown for its attractive, small foliage. This evergreen perennial climbs walls, trees, etc and may reach upwards of 5 m. It climbs by means of aerial roots which cling to the surface and when it has nothing to climb it will creep across the ground as a groundcover. The leaves are small, glossy, dark green, and have a distinctive star shape and fineness to them. The green flowers in summer result in black berries in autumn. Best performance with this Ivy is achieved when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of dry periods, frost, and coastal environments. Hedera Pin Oak is commonly used to cover fences, large walls, trained across a pergola, used as a groundcover, or grown in a container and allowed to trail. The foliage is commonly used in floral arrangements.
