Trachelospermum asiaticum, commonly known as Asiatic Jasmine Plant, Asian Star Jasmine, Yellow Star Jasmine, or Japanese Star Jasmine, is an evergreen climber which can also serve as a groundcover. It carries dense and lush, glossy, dark green leaves which serves as a lovely backdrop to the small and fragrant, cream-white flowers. Left untrimmed it will grow to 8 m in length. Trachelospermum asiaticum is commonly used as a hardy groundcover, allowed to climb a trellis or the like, planted so it can spill over a wall, or used in cottage or “white” gardens.

Asiatic Jasmine Plant

The Asiatic Jasmine Plant (Trachelospermum asiaticum) is an evergreen climber which can also serve as a groundcover. It carries dense and lush, glossy, dark green leaves with new growth having distinctive bronze tones. The foliage serves as a lovely backdrop to the small and fragrant, cream-white flowers in summer which are produced in clusters. The slender, wiry stems sprawl on the ground, providing a dense groundcover or will intertwine and grow up a support structure. Left untrimmed it will grow to 8 m in length. Best performance with Trachelospermum asiaticum is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry periods and moderate frost once established. The Asiatic Jasmine Plant is commonly used as a hardy groundcover, allowed to climb a trellis or the like, planted so it can spill over a wall, or used in cottage or “white” gardens.
