Abies fraseri Details

Abies fraseri, commonly called the Fraser Fir or Frasier Fir, grows with a columnar habit and hosts dark green, glossy needles. New growth is light green and contrasts well with the darker foliage. It produces light yellow cones which are held upright amidst the branches. This tree will grow to about 20 m tall and spread 6 m wide though it can be trimmed as necessary. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained site with good summer moisture. It is tolerant of cool climates, frost, and dry periods. Abies fraseri is commonly used as a feature in parks and large gardens or where a taller tree is required for a narrow space. The dense foliage makes it ideal for use as Christmas tree.
