Cupressocyparis Castlewellan Gold

Golden Leylandii, Golden Leylands Cypress

Commonly known as Golden Leylandii, this is a beautiful, fast growing, dense, evergreen conifer featuring yellow foliage. It has scaly leaves held in flattened sprays which tend to be lighter green in the summer and golden yellow in the autumn. If left untrimmed, this tree will grow with a pyramid shape to about 30 m tall and 5 m wide. However, it is commonly contained with trimming to much smaller sizes. This variety prefers a full sun position on a well-drained site, and is adaptable to all soil types (barring the extremes of wet and dry), and will tolerate frost, cool climates, wind, and dry periods. “Castlewellan Gold” is a popular conifer and is commonly used as a screen or as a tall, trimmed hedge.
