“Kaizuka” is an upright conifer with an oriental style. It bares scale-like, vivid-green leaves held on twisted and irregularly shaped branches. The display is quite unusual yet very aesthetic. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and dry conditions but not of prolonged wet soils. “Kaizuka” is commonly grown as a sculptural specimen, added to a mixed planting, or combined with other low growing conifers. It looks impressive when planted against a bland wall.
