Picea omorica Details

Picea omorica (aka Picea omorika), commonly known as the Serbian Spruce, is a conifer that grows with a narrow, pyramidal shape. It features flattened, bright green needles that have a silver underside, and darken with age. Complementing the foliage are violet-purple cones which are produced in spring and age to become yellow-brown. This is a slow growing tree that will eventually reach 15 m tall and 5 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of dry periods, cold climates, frost, coastal environments, and moderate wind. Picea omorica is commonly used for shelter, grown as a specimen, or included in a mixed planting in a large garden.
