Taxus baccata, commonly known as the English Yew or Common Yew, this conifer is grown for its attractive foliage and rounded form. It features small and narrow, dark green leaves which are held densely on rigid stems. The foliage is complemented with small, green flowers in spring which result in masses of showy, red berries in summer as it grows to 8 m tall and 5 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Taxus baccata is commonly added to a mixed planting, trimmed into a hedge, grown for shelter and screening, or planted as a backdrop for smaller plants.
