Adiantum venustum Details

Adiantum venustum, commonly known as the Himalayan Maidenhair Fern, is a deciduous fern that carries attractive, soft, mid-green foliage. The new fronds in late winter have salmon tones and age to a fresh green colour. The leaves are held on wiry, black stems. It grows as a clump to about 20 cm tall and 50 cm wide but will spread through its root system to colonise a larger area with time. This Fern grows best when planted in medium shade with good moisture and shelter. It is tolerant of cool climates and once the temperatures drop or the first frost hits it will go dormant to regrow again when conditions warm. Adiantum venustum is commonly planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs, used in shaded areas, included in woodland plantings, used in cottage gardens, added to a border planting, or grown in a container.
