Asplenium oblongifolium Details

Asplenium oblongifolium, commonly known as Shining Spleenwort, is a NZ native fern grown for its lovey foliage. It bears lush and showy fronds which are glossy, dark green, and held with a graceful arch. New foliage is light green and very attractive also. It grows reasonably quickly to about 70 cm tall and 1 m wide, though will spread to colonise a larger area with time. Best results with this fern are achieved when it is planted in partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site that does not dry out. It is tolerant of full sun positions, heavy shade, moderate frost, and coastal conditions. Asplenium oblongifolium gives a spectacular display when mass planted beneath trees and is well suited to including in tropical gardens, planting around outdoor living areas, or using in border plantings.
