Cyathea cooperi Details

Cyathea cooperi is an Australian native tree fern. It produces a tall and slender, brown trunk and can grow up to 15 m tall with a spread of 8 m. The dark green fronds are soft and delicate, and held horizontally as they radiate from the top of the trunk. The old fronds decay and eventually fall to leave a small, scaly scar on the stem. This fern prefers to grow in a semi-shade or full shade positions that are well-drained, sheltered, and do not dry out. Once established, Cyathea cooperi will tolerate drier conditions and light frost. The Rough Tree Fern is well suited to cool and damp areas and is great for providing a sub-tropical feel to a garden. It is also used for revegetation projects, added to native gardens, used in woodland gardens, planted alongside streams, or included in a mixed planting to provide height and texture.
