Dicksonia antarctica, commonly known as The Australian or Tasmanian Tree Fern, has a solid brown trunk which carries a crown of fronds which reach up to 3 m long. They resemble a small umbrella on top of the trunk. It is relatively quick growing and typically reaches 3 m tall and 4 m wide. Dicksonia antarctica is commonly planted in wet and shady areas, in revegetation projects, included in mixed plantings, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, added to woodland gardens, or grown around a water feature.

Dicksonia antarctica, commonly known as The Australian or Tasmanian Tree Fern, is an impressive plant. It has a solid brown trunk which carries a crown of fronds which reach up to 3 m long. They resemble a small umbrella on top of the trunk. It is relatively quick growing and typically reaches 3 m tall and 4 m wide. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. Shelter and good soil moisture during dry periods are important for this plant. Dicksonia antarctica is commonly planted in wet and shady areas, in revegetation projects, included in mixed plantings, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, added to woodland gardens, or grown around a water feature.
