Dicksonia antarctica, commonly known as The Australian or Tasmanian Tree Fern, has a solid brown trunk which carries a crown of fronds which reach up to 3 m long. They resemble a small umbrella on top of the trunk. It is relatively quick growing and typically reaches 3 m tall and 4 m wide. Dicksonia antarctica is commonly planted in wet and shady areas, in revegetation projects, included in mixed plantings, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, added to woodland gardens, or grown around a water feature.

Dicksonia antarctica, commonly known as The Australian or Tasmanian Tree Fern, is an impressive plant. It has a solid brown trunk which carries a crown of fronds which reach up to 3 m long. They resemble a small umbrella on top of the trunk. It is relatively quick growing and typically reaches 3 m tall and 4 m wide. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. Shelter and good soil moisture during dry periods are important for this plant.
