Doodia aspera, commonly known as the Prickly Rasp Fern, is a stunning, multi-coloured fern. Short fronds rise vertically from a central clump with the young fronds having a distinct pink colouring. As the fronds age they change to green. It typically grows to 30 cm tall and the same wide, performing best on a well-drained, sheltered site in partial to full shade conditions. It has storage roots that allows it to regrow after a cold winter. Doodia aspera is commonly used in woodland plantings, shady areas, planted around larger shrubs, or grown indoors in a container.
