Doodia australis Details

Doodia australis, commonly known as Rasp Fern, is a stunning, multi-coloured fern. Young fronds have a distinct pink colouring and age to become dark green. They rise vertically from storage roots which allow the plant to regrow after a cold winter and also spread to colonise larger areas with time. It typically grows to 30 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full shade or partial shade conditions. It is tolerant of moderate frost and cool climates and will often go dormant when these conditions are experienced. Doodia australis is commonly used in woodland plantings, planted in shady areas, grown around the base of larger shrubs, or grown indoors as a potted plant.
