Cordyline Purple Tower is a variety of the commonly known, Cabbage Tree, and is renowned for its stunning, dark purple foliage. This NZ native produces a crown of gently arching, sword-like leaves off a single trunk. This evergreen typically grows to 3 m tall and 1.5 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It can be grown in partial shade conditions but colouring will be less intense. It is also tolerant of moderate frost, cool climates, and coastal environments but should be protected while it is establishing. Cordyline Purple Tower is perfect for adding height to plantings in narrow or confined spaces, growing in a container, including in tropical plantings, or using as a colourful accent in a mixed planting. The architectural form and attractive foliage makes this plant the perfect choice for the modern garden.
