Dianella caerulea, commonly known as the NZ Flax Lily, is an herbaceous perennial that bears spikes carrying delicate blue and yellow flowers in spring which are followed by small, blue berries in summer. These are held neatly above the dark green, strap-like leaves. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide. Dianella caerulea is suited to adding to mixed plantings, mass planting under trees and shrubs or on a bank, including in cottage gardens, or maintaining in a container.
