It grows to 40 cm tall and the same wide in full sun or partial shade. Dianella Little Jess is commonly included in a mixed planting or border, used in cottage gardens, or mass planted either on a bank or as a groundcover.

Dianella caerulea Little Jess is a variety of NZ Flax Lily that is grown for both its foliage and flowers. It bears spikes carrying delicate, blue flowers in spring above lush, mid-green leaves. The flowers are followed by small, blue berries. It will typically grow to 40 cm tall and the same wide, and has storage roots that enable it to survive a wide range of environmental conditions. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate moderate frost, reasonable shade, short periods of dry, and most soils, except the extremes of wet and dry. Dianella Little Jess is commonly included in a mixed planting or border, used in cottage gardens, or mass planted either on a bank or as a groundcover.
