The foliage is adorned with clusters of blue flowers through spring and summer which are held off slender stems. The flowers are followed by glossy, dark blue berries. This NZ Flax Lily typically grows to 70 cm tall and 90 cm wide and has roots that enable it to survive a wide range of environmental conditions. It grows best, however, when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is hardy to moderate frost, coastal environments, dry periods, and cool climates.
