Phormium Black Pepe Details

Phormium tenax Black Pepe is a dwarf Flax variety that produces sword like leaves that are coloured black with a purple overtone. This flax typically grows to 60 cm tall and the same wide with a tidy and compact habit. It grows best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, and cool climates. Phormium Black Pepe makes a fantastic addition to mixed plantings, border plantings, and is often planted around water features, added to coastal gardens, or grown around pool and barbecue areas. It is also well suited for mass planting on a bank and in these situations provides an impressive display.
