Phormium Golden Ray is a variety of Flax that produces long and broad, sword like leaves that have a broad mid green central band surrounded with cream-yellow stripes. This Flax typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide with a tidy and compact habit. It grows best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, and cool climates. Phormium Golden Ray is a versatile Flax that makes a fantastic addition to mixed plantings, border plantings, planting around water features, adding to coastal gardens, or planting around pool and barbecue areas. It is also well suited for mass planting on a bank and in these situations provides an impressive display.
