Phormium Purple Haze is a variety of Flax that produces long and broad, dark purple leaves. It grows with a tidy and compact habit to about 1.1 m tall and 1.3 m wide, performing best and producing the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, moderate shade, and cool climates. Phormium Purple Haze makes a fantastic addition to mixed plantings, borders, and coastal gardens. It is commonly planted around water features as well as pool and barbecue areas along with other living areas. It is also well suited for mass planting on a bank and in these situations provides an impressive display.
