Dianella tasmanica Cherry Red is a compact, clump forming grass grown for its lovely foliage. This evergreen perennial has grass like foliage that is a fantastic green and red-pink colour. It grows to about 75 cm tall and the same wide and becomes adorned with violet-blue flowers in spring and summer. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate moderate frost, reasonable shade, short periods of dry, and most soils, except the extremes of wet and dry. Dianella tasmanica Cherry Red is commonly included in a mixed planting or border, used in cottage gardens, or mass planted either on a bank or as a groundcover.
