This NZ Flax Lily typically grows to 70 cm tall and 90 cm wide and has roots that enable it to survive a wide range of environmental conditions. It grows best, however, when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is hardy to moderate frost, coastal environments, dry periods, and cool climates. The Sea Spray Dianella is commonly mass planted in borders or as a groundcover, included in a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas.
