Phormium Black Magic is a dwarf variety of Flax that produces sword-like, jet-black leaves. This variety typically grows to 30 cm tall and the same wide with a tidy and compact habit. It grows best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and tolerates frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, and cool climates. Phormium Black Magic is a versatile variety that makes a fantastic addition to mixed plantings, borders, and coastal gardens. It is commonly planted around water features and other living areas such as pool and barbecue areas. It is also well suited for mass planting on a bank, maintaining in a container, or planting to contrast with a light-coloured wall or to complement other plant colours.
