Phormium Taya Details

Phormium Taya is a variety of Flax that produces long and broad, sword-like leaves that are dark purple with a red undertone. As the leaves age they tend to become darker. This variety typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide with a tidy and compact habit. It performs best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, moderate shade, and cool climates. Phormium Taya makes a fantastic addition to mixed plantings, border plantings, and coastal gardens. It is commonly planted around water features, pool and barbecue areas, and other living areas. It is also well suited for mass planting on a bank and in these situations provides an impressive display.
