Phormium Wild Wood is a colourful NZ native flax that features striking brown-purple foliage. It grows as a tidy clump to about 1.2 m tall and the same wide, performing best and producing the best leaf colouring when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, wind, coastal environments, and most soil conditions, except extreme wet or dry. Phormium Wild Wood is commonly added to mixed and border plantings, included in coastal gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or maintained in a container. It is also well suited for mass planting on a bank and in these situations provides an impressive display.
