Double grafted apricot trees achieve higher yields due to better pollination and also extend the fruiting season. “Sundrop” and “Trevatt” are both popular varieties of apricot that bear tasty fruit in summer. The rootstock keeps this deciduous tree to about 4 m tall and 3 m wide, though it can be trimmed as necessary. Best results will be achieved when the tree it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, though a late frost in spring can reduce yields. It is not well suited to sub-tropical climates as yields can be lower due to lack of winter chilling. This double grafted tree is commonly planted for fruit production, included in a mixed planting, or grown as a specimen.
