“Meiwa” is a variety of Kumquat that produces ound, bright orange fruits in autumn. The edible fruit are sweet and mildly acidic. They arise from fragrant, white flowers in summer which are borne amidst the glossy, dark green foliage. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, protected from heavy frost, though it will tolerate moderate frost once established. “Meiwa” is commonly included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, added to a courtyard garden, planted around outdoor living areas, or grown as a specimen.
