Olea ‘Leccino’ is a variety of Olive tree grown for its high quality fruit. The medium-sized, dark purple-black fruit have a distinct, sweet taste and can be squeezed to make a rich and tasty oil or eaten fresh. The fruit originate from white-cream flowers in summer. NB: For best fruiting we recommend another Olive variety be planted nearby to aid pollination. The foliage comprises grey-green leaves held on slender branches that have a gentle arch. This evergreen tree typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of extended dry periods, moderate frost, and cool climates, and some wind, though will benefit from protection while establishing. Olea ‘Leccino’ is one of the more popular olive tree varieties and is often grown for fruit production. It also makes for an impressive specimen and is useful for screening, using as a windbreak, or being trimming either into a hedge or for topiary. For an Olea ‘Leccino’ hedge, space the trees 75 cm to 1 m apart.
