“Blackboy" is a peach variety selected for its large yields of dark coloured, tasty fruit. It produces juicy, wine coloured fruit which have a similar coloured flesh in late summer. It grows as an upright tree and bears lush, green foliage with the leaves developing yellow tones in autumn before falling. This deciduous tree typically reaches 5 m tall and 3 m wide, but can be trimmed as necessary. Best yields with this variety are achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered, fertile site, with good soil moisture during dry periods. It is tolerant of cold climates and frost, though late frosts in spring will reduce the yield. “Blackboy" is often added to a mixed planting, grown as a specimen, or planted specifically for fruit production. NB: This variety will produce fruit without the need for another (pollinator) variety planted nearby.
