“Spring Satin” is a variety of Plumcot which is a cross between an apricot and a plum. The dark purple-black fruit are large and have yellow-red flesh with a sweet flavour. White blossoms adorn the tree in spring and give rise to the fruit in early summer. This variety does not require another plum variety planted nearby to aid pollination and produce fruit. This deciduous tree grows with an upright habit to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates and frost, though a late frost can reduce yields. This variety is commonly planted for fruit production and makes for a lovely specimen.
