These are produced in autumn and can be eaten fresh or used to make jam. The fruit have a thin skin, juicy interior, and are soft and tasty. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained, sheltered, frost free site in full sun. “Red Cherry” is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown for specifically for its fruit, added to a tropical garden, trimmed into a hedge, or used as a backdrop for other plants.
