“Smyrna” is a variety of Quince that produces large and golden fruit in autumn. The fruit have flesh that is aromatic, tender, and of mild flavour. The branches host thick, dark green leaves as well as masses of blossoms in spring. This variety does not require another variety planted alongside to produce fruit and will produce in both warm and cool climates from a young age. It typically grows to 5 m tall and 3 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. This deciduous tree grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, though it is tolerant of dry periods, frost, and cool climates. “Smyrna” is commonly included in a mixed planting or grown as specimen with the added benefit of lovely fruits.
