Royal Gala Apple Details

The Royal Gala Apple, commonly known as Royal Apples, is a popular variety owing to its orange and red striped, medium-sized fruit in autumn. The fruit are juicy and very tasty which helps make this a prominent variety. The M9 rootstock keeps this Royal Gala Apple tree to about 3 m tall and 2.5 m wide, though it can be trimmed as necessary. It is self-pollinating and so does not require another apple variety planted close by to produce fruit. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, though a late frost in spring can reduce yields. It is not suited to sub-tropical climates. The Royal Gala Apple is commonly planted for fruit production, included in a mixed planting, or maintained in a courtyard garden.
