The Keiffer pear tree produces large, green-yellow fruit which have a coarse texture and juicy flesh. These ripen in autumn and are held amidst the fresh, green foliage which develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. This variety requires another variety planted nearby such as William Bon Chretien or Conference to aid pollination and achieve good yields. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 3.5 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best yields are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, with good soil moisture during dry periods. It is tolerant of cool climates and frost, though a late frost in spring may reduce the yield. The Keiffer Pear is commonly grown for fruit production, included into a mixed planting, or grown as a specimen.
