Persimmon Fuyu Details

“Fuyu” is a variety of Persimmon grown for its orange fruits and aesthetic appeal. The fruit are of good size, sweet, and non-astringent. These ripen in autumn and are held amidst the fresh, green foliage which develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 5 m tall and 3 m wide, but can be trimmed as necessary. Best yields with this variety are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered, fertile site, with good soil moisture during dry periods. It is tolerant of cold climates and frost, though late frosts will reduce the yield. “Fuyu” is often added to mixed plantings, grown as a specimen, or planted specifically for fruit production.
