Plum Cheviot Details

Plum Cheviot produces high yields of large, purple-blue skinned fruit with yellow flesh that is sweet and juicy. The fruit can be eaten fresh, preserved, or dried into prunes. White blossoms adorn the tree in spring and give rise to the fruit in summer. This variety requires another plum variety (e.g., Stanley) planted nearby to aid pollination for fruit production. It has bright green foliage which develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. This deciduous tree grows with an upright habit to about 5 m tall and 3 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates and frost, though a late frost can reduce yields. Plum Cheviot is commonly planted for fruit production and makes for a lovely specimen.
