This deciduous tree grows with an upright habit to about 5 m tall and 3 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates and frost, though a late frost can reduce yields. Plum Heard is commonly planted to aid the pollination of other plum varieties but also makes for a lovely specimen.
