Plum Sultan Details

“Sultan” is a variety of Plum that produces mid-sized, red skinned fruit in summer. The fruit have a red flesh that is both juicy and flavoursome. White blossoms adorn the tree in spring and give rise to the fruit in summer. It does require another Plum variety (e.g., “Santa Rosa” or “Elephant Heart”) planted nearby to aid pollination so fruit can form. This deciduous tree grows with an upright habit to about 5 m tall and 4 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates and frost, though a late frost can reduce yields. This variety is commonly planted for fruit production and makes for a lovely specimen.
