Acorus gramineus Ogon, commonly known as Japanese Sweetflag, Japanese Rush, or Sweetflag, is an attractive ornamental grass featuring fine and variegated foliage. This plant has very attractive, weeping leaves that emerge from a central clump. It grows to about 15-20 cm tall and the same wide, and performs best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun. It is tolerant of moderate frost and short periods of dry once established. It may die back during winter but will regrow again when conditions warm. Acorus Ogon is commonly used in rock gardens, mass planted as a groundcover, maintained in a container, included in borders, or planted around outdoor living areas. It is a fantastic plant for brightening an area and a mass planting is essential for achieving the best displays.
