Baumea rubiginosa, Nutsedge
Baumea rubiginosa, commonly known as the Orange Nut Sedge, is a vigorous, NZ native rush that features slender, green foliage. Red-brown seed heads are borne during summer above the foliage which adds an interesting element to this plant as it grows to 1.5 m wide and 1 m high. Baumea rubiginosa is commonly used to revegetate wetlands but can also be used around pond edges, alongside streams, or in boggy areas.
