Carex albula Details

Carex albula, commonly known as Curly Sedge, Hair Sedge, or White Sedge, is a NZ native grass grown for its ornamental appeal. It produces very fine, buff-green foliage held as a dense tuft. The foliage turns near white during the winter months. The fine foliage affords a delightful display in light wind as it grows to 40 cm tall and the same wide. It performs the best when positioned in a full sun or partial shade position that does not dry out but has good drainage. It is hardy to frost, cool climates, and wind. Carex albula is commonly used for border plantings, mass planted on a bank, or used as a groundcover. A mass planting will provide the best displays and the colour contrasts this plant affords are amazing.
